Shoe Laces and St Monica

Hola. Hope you are well.

Things are good with me. I compered the gig John Hegley and Some Other Poets on Friday and it went well. I think I was the right amount of tired from work, combined with the adrenaline from going on stage. It also helped by having a good audience, who were happy to contribute to the show, for example who knew Friday was St Monica’s day? Certainly not me until, a member of the audience told me she was celebrating such a day. Her name… Monica.

Also last week, I learnt that you can’t buy shoe laces in Shoe Zone (other budget shoe shops are available). ‘Her With One Permanent Job’ explained this away by saying the shop is called Shoe Zone, not Shoe Lace Zone. I’m not having that, if I went into a bike shop, I’d expect to be able to buy a lock. In the end I got some laces in a shoe repair shop (they’re not afraid to diversify), the laces I bought were 1 metre long which initially struck me as being too long, but as it happens they are about right. Just in case anyone is in the same position and looking for laces, the footwear I needed laces for was ankle boots. I wouldn’t want people getting 1 metre length laces for shoes, as that might be too long.

On last week’s blog post I mentioned how I’d recently watched 6 DVDs, ‘Get Him To The Greek’, ‘On the Waterfront’, ‘Moneyball’, ‘Harry Brown’, ‘Good Hair’ and ‘Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy’ and speculated that no one reading the blog would have watched all 6 films. Well you can add the film ‘Submarine’ to the list as I watched it the other day. Feel free to let me know how many of the seven films you have watched. (You can contact me via the comments button)

Also last week, I had to send an organisation proof of my address, so I sent a copy of a recent credit card statement but I didn’t want randoms knowing what I’d spent my money on, so I blanked this info out. I even blocked out the estimated interest, just in case someone could work out how much I’d spent on my credit card from this. Is this normal behaviour? Do you do things like this? Feel free to let me know.

And Finally…. For all those people who have been coming up to me in the street and asking me what page I’m on in Catch 22, I can let you know at the time of writing I am on page 432 of a 519 page book. So under the 100 pages to go mark. I’m not sure why I didn’t let you all know this when you approached me in the street.

Til next week, stay safe!
