Who wants to change the world?

Hola. Hope you are well.

On leaving Newsnight, Jeremy Paxman effectively said, that trying to change the world is for thirteen year olds.

Is he right?

Are you older than a teenager and want to change the world?

If not change the world, as this may be overly ambitious, do you want to make a positive difference, whether that be to your family, the area you live, to the people you meet, or society in general?

  1. I think it’s a good idea that the world changes so that the gap between the rich (brave risk-takers) and the poor ( bad luck) does not increase nationally and internationally year on year. Those of us who perceive injustice will have to FIGHT for change though. Our rulers never give anything away – they fight the class war and we need to organise and fight too . Big strike coming up on Thursday. Support for that is important in whatever way possible. If successful , it could trigger more widespread and effective resistance. Problem : recent governments have successfully lowered expectations of young and working-class. We need to burst out in targetted and sustained anger. I left my teenage years behind 33 years ago and “things” were better then although we didn’t realise it. No-one thought “things” would become harder – new technology was going to bring on the 3-day working week for everyone .

    • Cheers for your comments, all good stuff as usual. It may also be a first where the comment is as long as the original blog post. Weren’t we meant to have flying cars by now. The future hasn’t been what is was cracked up to be.
