Apparently Zoe Ball has lost 780 000 listeners from the Radio 2 Breakfast show in 3 months. I have to applaud her for this. It’s better to shed people who aren’t keen on what you do than have them sniping from the side. Over the years I’ve managed to whittle the people who like what I do down to 8-15 (and I’m one of the 8-15). Anyway back to Zoe, are you one of those 780 000 listeners & if so what do you listen to in the morning instead? Let me know via the comments button or @anunknowncomic. Cheers
If you like my #1minblog then why not check out my comedy podcast.
Normally when I listen to commercial radio I flick over when the adverts come on (sorry advertisers) but the other day I was doing some manual labour so I wasn’t near enough to the radio to change channels. This meant I got to hear adverts on heavy rotation.
In the same set of adverts you were encouraged to reclaim money off high street banks for mis-sold PPI and encouraged to take out a business loan from one of those high street banks.
On some level there were mixed messages being sent out.
Check out my comedy prongcast. Cheers
Hola. Hope you are well.
I read an article recently, looking at how Grimmy (Nick Grimshaw) can attract young listeners to Radio 1.
This interested me because I have a foot, loosely in both camps. As I am sure you’re aware I prongcast (podcast to most people) under the name 3Prong Attack and for the last 4 years I’ve worked in a Secondary school, working with 14,15,16 year olds, an age group Radio 1 would covet.
Thanks to Google and me having my first and surname on my ID badge, some of the children were able to track down my prongcasts. This meant that despite having what could be described as a niche audience, a large percentage are teens. So if Grimmy really wants to boost the number of young listeners to his show, he should take a job working in schools. That or get a well paid job judging talent on X Factor.
Til next time, be nice to each other.
