A change is coming??

I thought there was a whiff of change in the air, the Colston statue came down, Nigel Farage left LBC, Twitter kicked out Katie Hopkins, Marcus Rashford convinced the government they should feed hungry children and then a plane with ‘White Lives Matter’ flew above a football stadium and I read the comments under the article and thought we still have a plenty to do.

Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

I work at a Catholic school but I’m not Catholic. When I accepted the job I knew it was a Catholic school and I knew I wasn’t Catholic so when prayers are taking place I sit respectfully. I don’t turn my back.

Arron banks Nigel’s lifestyle.

Arron Banks gave Nigel Farage £450 000 to ‘fund his lavish lifestyle’.

a) Is this odd?
b) What does Arron get out of this arrangement?
c) How much would you give me to fund my less than lavish lifestyle?
d) Should I become friends with Arron?
e) Why does Arron spell his name with 2 Rs like no other Aaron?

How to counter a powerful narrative.

I watched a Brexit Party video the other day and basically their message is that ‘the people’ (which people) have been betrayed by the political establishment who have stopped Brexit happening. Not only is this seen as a betrayal apparently it’s also undemocratic. As someone who thinks Brexit is more complex than this, I still think the Brexit Party has very a powerful narrative. With this in mind how can other parties counter this narrative?

Why am I not on Marr?

When the Lib Dems did better than expected at the local elections people said this shows we want to remain in the EU. Now that The Brexit party are polling well for the European elections people are saying this shows we want to leave the EU. I don’t know if anyone else has noticed this but Brexit is polarising, people either want to leave or they want to remain.

Brexit a blow to The Establishment?

It has been said the Brexit vote, was a vote against The Establishment, yet it will be overseen by Theresa May, Boris Johnson, David Davies and Liam Fox, (The Establishment).

How we leave the EU will be decided by the courts, (The Establishment) and will no doubt involve discussions in Parliament (the Establishment).

In addition to this big business (Nissan) have been given assurances about Brexit, your average small to medium businesses are not privy to.

Now it is reported that Sir Richard Branson is teaming up with former Prime Minister, Tony Blair to halt the Brexit process.

Whilst the biggest champion of Brexit, Nigel Farage is off hanging out with billionaire and President elect Donald Trump in a gold-plated lift.

And should Brexit lead to a downturn in the economy as is predicted, it will know doubt hit the poorest first and the hardest. Those people who were made to believe Brexit would change their circumstances for the better.

None of this strikes me as very anti establishment.

Til next time, be nice to each other.
